Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between your concentrations and standard store-bought perfumes?
Most retail fragrances are highly diluted, typically falling between 10% and 15% concentration. At No Ditty Specialty Oils, we focus on maximum potency for an enduring "presence."
35% Parfum/Extrait (Our Sprays): This is the industry maximum for wearable performance, offering the strongest initial projection and all-day endurance.
25% Extrait de Parfum (Our Oils): Carried in a nourishing Golden Jojoba base, these provide a more intimate, skin-clinging longevity that evolves beautifully over 8–12 hours.
Pure Perfume Fragrance Oils: Unlike standard "fragrance oils" used for candles or soaps, our oils are professional-grade, skin-safe concentrates designed specifically for fine perfumery.
Why does my perfume smell better or "deeper" a few weeks after purchase?
Like a fine wine, high-end perfumes benefit from a process called maceration. This is the time required for the complex essential oils, resins, and carrier bases to fully bond and stabilize.
The Evolution: If a scent feels slightly "sharp" upon arrival, it simply needs to breathe.
Our Process: While we allow our blends to settle before shipping, the final "rounding out" of the scent often happens in the bottle. Allowing your fragrance to sit in a cool, dark place for 2–4 weeks will result in a smoother, richer, and more cohesive aroma.
What is the best way to store my fragrances to ensure they last?
Heat, light, and humidity are the primary enemies of perfume. To protect the integrity of your 35% concentration sprays and 25% oils:
Avoid the Bathroom: The constant temperature swings and humidity from showers can break down the fragrance molecules quickly.
Keep it Dark: Direct sunlight can oxidize the oils, changing the scent profile and color.
The Ideal Spot: Store your bottles in a cool, dry, dark place—like a drawer or a shelf away from windows. Properly stored, our high-concentration fragrances can maintain their full potency for years.
How do I layer the perfume oil and the spray for maximum longevity?
To create a signature scent that lasts 12+ hours, we recommend the "Oil-First" method.
The Foundation: Apply your 25% Extrait Oil to pulse points first. The Golden Jojoba base acts as a "scent magnet" on your skin.
The Timing: Wait 5 to 10 minutes before following up with the spray. This allows the oil to partially absorb so the alcohol in the spray doesn't break down the oil's molecular structure.
The Finish: Lightly mist your 35% Parfum Spray over the same areas. The spray provides the initial "sillage" (trail), while the oil provides the "longevity" (anchor).
Where are the best places to apply high-concentration perfumes?
Fragrance is activated by body heat. For the best results with our 25% and 35% concentrations, focus on your Pulse Points:
Primary Points: Wrists, the base of the throat, and behind the earlobes.
Secret Points: Inner elbows and behind the knees. These areas stay warm throughout the day and help the scent "radiate" as you move.
Pro Tip: Never rub your wrists together after application. Simply dab the fragrance onto the skin and let it air dry to keep the scent notes intact.
Skin Prep & Seasonal Care:
"Fragrance molecules need a 'grip' to stay active. Apply an unscented lotion or a thin layer of carrier oil before your perfume to prevent the scent from evaporating too quickly. In summer, heat amplifies projection—you may find you need 1-2 fewer sprays of our 35% concentration to maintain a balanced presence."
Clothing & Fabric Care:
"Applying to clothing is a great way to extend a scent's life. Mist from at least 10–12 inches away to ensure an even spread. Note: Because of our high oil and resin concentrations, we recommend testing a small, hidden inner hem first on delicate or light-colored fabrics."
The "Nose Blind" Rule:
"If you stop smelling your scent after a few hours, it’s often 'nose blindness' (Olfactory Fatigue). Others around you can likely still smell your presence! Instead of a full respray, use a small touch-up with one of our 25% roll-on oils to refresh the scent for your own enjoyment."
